DANCE POETICS Movement improvisation, Instant composition & Poetry

We’ll enter space as listeners, as guests, as makers.

We’ll let it speak and widen through us. There will be movement, stillness, doors to space and imagination, words, poetry —and the quiet joy of making together.

In these sessions, we will study and practice the inner drives and dynamic principles of improvised dance materials and pieces. We will tune into the body to widen our attention to sensation, space, layers of memory, and imagination as sources for movement. We will move in initiation and response, manifesting and creating pieces in the instant, touching into the poetic language of dance.

We will practice deep listening— to the inner oracle, the environment, the space and it´s qualities, the presence of others— allowing images and atmospheres to emerge and guide us. Movement will arise from becoming attuned in the present moment, riding sensation, memory, and imagination, allowing us to compose choreography in the instant. We attend the birth of material within us, to the echoes of gestures, and to the images that emerge when dancing together. Each participant brings their own material, yet our dances are shaped by the relationships we build: allowing others to enter our imagination, receiving and responding, weaving collective stories from individual voices.

This work invites us to experience the body as landscape, to cultivate presence, bonding and curiosity, and to let dance arise as the medium of what is felt, seen, and imagined; It's open to anyone with an interest in movement and the many wonders that unfold when dancing. Anyone who wishes to tune into the rich territory of the dancing body, the creative self and the many gifts that awaken when we connect to its poetic force and wisdom, bringing us also into a profound experience that transcends us.
